Sports Diver

 

Sports Diver level at which BSAC divers are assessed to be proficient in the skills required to dive to depths up to 30 meters and also act as a buddy to Ocean Divers.  Qualification to this level means that member is certified  to dive within certain limits.

The trainee must be a member of both the BS-AC and Peterborough Sub-Aqua Club for insurance purposes.

 
Dive Limits:
  • Max Depth: 30M
  • Buddy: Any grade
The training for this grade is a set course of:
  • 6 Classroom lessons
  • 5 Sheltered water lessons
  • 5 Open water lessons
  • 1 Dry Practical Lesson
  • Theory Test

The student will also participate in 20 additional open water dives, to become more familiar with the techniques they are learning, before being certified to this grade.

Equipment:

All Sports Divers are expected to acquire their own most of the equipment required for this sport including

  • Face Mask
  • Snorkel
  • Fins
  • Wet/Dry Suit
  • Buoyancy Compensator
  • Air cylinder(s)
  • Demand Valves

Other equipment can be provided by the club until the course is completed.
